Our Practice
Traditionally, communication has been viewed
as an instrument or as a commodity. We use it to manage relationships
and to solve problems. We exchange it with or conceal it from others.
This perspective treats communication as a secondary process, something
we do or dont do. Framing conversations in transactional
terms, however, is like calling the Grand Canyon a hole in the ground.
While it might technically be an accurate description, it fails to address
the majesty, complexity, and mystery that make the Grand Canyon so powerful.
At Ketchcom Development, we locate communication
as a socially constructed primary process in which meaning arises in context.
Our practice is about helping individuals and organizations develop the
resources necessary to improve their communication competence, as well
as a thorough understanding of the ways in which they can practically
integrate those resources into their everyday personal and professional
lives (i.e., practices). Our services address internal organizational
communication among co-workers, superiors, subordinates, and team members,
as well as external organizational communication with current clients,
potential clients, and strategic partners.
By understanding the ways in which individuals
and organizations co-construct meaning in their day-to-day lives, our
clients are better equipped to more effectively, more productively, and
more enjoyably engage in the practice of their profession.
